1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2 Timothy 3:1
I don’t like to write about my own experiences, trying instead to place the focus on God’s word and carefully explaining the things which he has placed on my heart to write about. However, there were somethings that he shared with me that spoke about the importance of obedience and seeking His face. In 2015 the beginnings of what we are witness to today was only ascending and the message to me was very clear. “The more people pull away from me, the more violence they will see.”
Back then I was spending a lot of time on a piece about women’s identity in Christ. Little do we realize and think about our roles within the church, the home, in our relationships, especially in our relationship with God. Much of what was given to me surrounding the subject had to do with the fall of mankind in the garden and how the enemy of our souls has zeroed in on using the woman as his champion. This is something that women have a very hard time grasping in our modern world and its way of thinking.
There is no need for anyone to be offended offended by that statement. Feelings very rarely have anything to do with facts and one should not be given over to our heart. Our response should not be reactionary. Instead, we should focus on what God’s word says. We should allow God to guide us in our thought life. Something that not only takes time as we allow god to mold us and transform us into an image of His righteousness. When we are truly transformed by the Holy Spirit and we have overcome our areas of weakness or weakness of faith there is little room for taking offense. For the mature believer, we must practice our biblical approach and biblical centered thinking and in doing so our automatic response to any and all situations that are highly emotional and charged with the great potential for strife must therefore be handled with great consideration. This of course is not easy, the process of transformation, the renewal of the heart and the mind, of surrender of our selves to the will of God is arduous.
With that in mind, no one likes to be told they are wrong, but when we surrender to God there is no room for self. No room for ego. No room for pride.
Satan himself operates on pride and uses it against believers to harden their hearts through negative experiences, often reminding us of them and the feelings they produce to cause division among families, churches, societies.
Our society has slowly come a long way to achieve the amount of destruction that it has. Slowly, the ambitions of the world have drowned out the voice of God in most of our churches. Today more and more men are less likely to lead their families, leaving a great deal of the responsibility of rearing the children to the women. While the woman does have the responsibility of discipline of her children; it is the man’s role appointed by God Himself , to bring order and as the headship bespeak respect. Something that was ordained by God to preserve the sovereignty of His order so that we may learn obedience. It is for this reason primarily that Satan attacked humanity through manipulation and deception, so that he may destroy the holiness of God’s order.
It should, then, come as no surprise to us by now that the world’s influence has been gradually phasing out the importance of a headship and male authority in all facets of society as well as the home. Replacing the strong father figure with single mothers and emasculated male personas.
But why is this an important thing to mention? Our nation is on the verge of a division from which it will never recover. We must place all our effort into ensuring that we live a life pleasing to God but also that we teach our children what is innately natural by God’s design.
